My opinion of the people who can give good games

Yeah, you can't forget about the almighty _____RIC_____, whose EE skills are unparalleled. Sadly these days he only meditates his godly RTS skills high in the Alps so that one day he can return in all his glory to resurrect this game which is on its last dieing breath.

Although I have to admit that aoc unfortunately died. Nearly all good ppl are gone.
But it had great players.

I don't think AOC had that many great players speaking in an overall sense. Most AOC players were one sett restricted although some of them were quite capable(even great) in that one setting. When I think of great players; I think of someone who can play any sett, wing, pocket, or 1v1/2v2 fine. It is hard to think of more than a few that could make that claim that resided mostly on AOC.

I've never seen or played so good Mid sh in eec in eec only rushes works its realy boring.
In aoc u have nice counters and buildings all over the map. and very long games if teams are fair.
I rememer i only played Aoc for 3 years then i tryed eec and it was not hard win vs the most players there in mid sh, yes most players there are very fast but tower setting and base building suck.
anyway Aoc was much more fun. very sad it finaly die....

Great palyers do not give necessarily great or good games. The ability to give or play good games is in no way related to skills. A "noob" who only palys mid sh f11 299 can have just as good games as someone who's playing liga with the best when palying with people having the same or at least a similiar skill level.
Back then when I started playing this game I used to play mid sh only and I remember some quite good games even though nobody knew me. Why? I had my own clan with others who were on the same station of their EE career and there were a few other clans who played mid sh on the same level as well. We had clanwars, friendly games, everything and our games usually took way longer than todays mid sh even though we played without f11.
DiS and MW are another example of exactly this thing. We had (and I'm sure everyone who was in dis or mw can agree to that) great games no matter if clan intern or not because we always tried to set up fair teams.
As already mentioned good games isn't in any ways related to great players but dependant of the obverall situation. In my oppinion the thing is not that all good palyers left - we still have quite a few (who were already mentioned here) - but the ability of giving good games got lost. Very few hosts try to get fair teams (a few do!) and almost everyone is just playing to win these days. Yes, we did always rush but is it realy necessary to do a no settle f11 2:10 rush if you just want a good game? For obvious reasons this "I have to prove how good I am" attitude seems to fuck up games. Maybe I was wrong with skill having nothing to do with good games. Maybe, the better the skill, the more you want to win which leads to unfair teams and uber rushs (I just took these 2 points as example).
And now with that beeing said I'd like to call out a few names of palyers who probably never were the best but always gave good games (good games as fair and funny games, not as "skills race"):

You might not know most of them (maybe all but PR1NCE) but to me these are just a few who can give good games - there might be alot more but I cannot name or remember all of them. And they are all EEC players because I never realy played AoC.

Thank god someone finally said where I couldnt find words for. But thats exactly what happend. But not only 'great', in respect to 'long', games we lost. Also strategicly good games are lost.

I remember asking Dl just a few month ago : Why the hell do you play Gren with Attack instead of HP in your civ. He answerd : Well, I dont care about the 5%-, but I got the advantage of better eco kill, or easier killing hero...

That was the point when I realised how orderd everything became in ee. Everything clearly follows game rules how to play the game. Only really few people get off of this constant sheme and try something new.
Thats actually the thing you can spot good players with , new tactics and strats. Thats the only matter, not how much Ps they have or what ever, but if player get their own tactics up and these tactics might work, they are good players.
I am sure the least of us really did this.

Well I partly agree with u guys on this matter. 2 players, both wanting to win can give very good games, and after all everybody tries to play well (most the time)-> hence to win. To some extent I'd say. For example I simply don't wanna do that pre rome(club) rush in liga. If we all did that we'd just be running around with clubs instead of actually aging and getting some more. Tankrush in mod dm is another stupid thing that eventhough it works vs many, it simply doesn't give a good game. Zookrush is same thing I rarely do that eventhough it owns everybody but a handful of people.

I do not, however, think that the intention of the topic was the "good game" thing, but rather who gives the biggest challanges.

yea so true i remember so much very funny games with my first clan all was total beginners we played mid tl with long bows and pf very funny games most times we lose but finally we had fun.

I was one of those people at that stage with pelie, and i agree with what he's said. PR1NCE always made games fun, always made teams fair so that we had the best game possible. Other members from DiS that were fun to play with include Dan (known as lil myth back then...i think xD), pelie and domme, achne, dank/tear, and pink sun.

To that list i want to add that there were some ZoS members on AoC that game me some good games when i played that, such as Enigma a.k.a "Iggy", and Ric (already mentioned i know). As well as the ZoS crew, the mid clan i was in gave me some good games and fun times. That clan was MvP and the most memorable members were - Taco (possibly ben55? lol), Pryma, GeN, and Zan

Also some RoK members from when i was a member (on eec) including Lusitan, Osirus, PerfectCircle and Jasonkidd, they were always fun to play mid sh with, competitive but always willing to have fun.

More recently, i can't remember if he has been mentioned, but put Skulls on that list. He's always willing to play a chillaxed game with people of lesser skill, always making teams as fair as possible, and just constantly putting others before himself.

Yah Skulls is me few years ago lol. I trained him well I used to put a lot of players before me and always help lesser skilled players learn at all settings. I remember playing skulls 20-30 1v1's a day. He wouldnt win any but still wanted to play again learn more push to be better. I admired that I knew he would be a special player with his skills and to the community. I would train him everyday one day on micro next on a strat for Indy next a strat for another sett/age. He couldnt get enough wore me out sometimes lmao.
I may still spank him in 1v1's <3 yah pimp(I'll leave the broom stick out of it) ^_- but he's the true beast for what he represents and how he carries himself. Thank you Skulls for what you've done and what your still doing. Your definately the best player i've ever trained not because of skill and not a min of that time was a waste. Still remember your wife yelling at me in background 0.o I feel yah pain man lol at least now I do...
