Re: I believe it is once again time
Still doesn't change the fact that the game should be played the way that it was made.
/thread
And omega it isn't an idotic suggestion, I already realized it doesn't auto-install. Everyone was curious about the patch when it first came out (I know I was) so I installed it. Now that everyone was 'curious' about it, everyone is required to use it to join other games.

Re: I believe it is once again time
Yeah, it's probably not very difficult at all to organize a new vote. It would probably go something like, after a game: "Hey, do any of you wish the patch would bring tributes back or do you know anyone who wishes this? If so, tell them to post in a forum topic I made, so we can get a re-vote." If you were to do this enough times in enough games with enough people doing it, you could have a substantial number of people to eventually cause a re-vote. If this issue matters so much to you all, do this. Rounding up people for a re-vote is necessary because it's basically preliminary, as it gives you an idea of what the vote will end up like in advance, so the admin and mods don't have to waste their time. Naturally, if you find it difficult to get a following on your side of the issue, a new vote would certainly be unnecessary. So this is an end-all message here: if you don't do this, or it just fails, stop bitching and play on GameRanger, or just unpatch, for it would be irrational for the admins to change the patch according to what just a few people want.
Unpatching... as previous people said, this isn't hard. The problem is hosting, right? What is the problem with that, exactly? What keeps you from hosting an unpatched game? Is it that you can't forward your ports because you don't have permission to do so? If that is the case, it would probably be worthwhile to make a forum topic or posting in the lobby that you need someone to host an unpatched game for you. I'm sure people would be generous enough to do this, and I'm sure the people who usually always host aren't hosting games to play for themselves at all times.
I think the first thing that should have been confronted in this forum topic would be how reasonable a democracy is for this issue. THIS should have been thoroughly discussed, rather than having complaints about the current lack of tributes in the patch.

Let's make a vote system so people can vote if they want to re-vote on the game patches!
Come on people, just unpatch if you want too.

coool story brah do you think the mods/admins did this when they started the votes on where the patch should be applied or not?????? why should unpatching be any different brah shut up]Yeah, it's probably not very difficult at all to organize a new vote. Re: I believe it is once again time
Why is it that people almost never (as far as I know) host unpatched games on their own if it's such a big issue, if having tributes is what the majority wants? There are two possible reasons for this: one, the majority doesn't care after all, or two, having the Omega patch is important because it gives us maps and resource sett changes and balancing fixes in AoC so it's worth it regardless of whether or not the tribute screen is taken out.
We need to find out if it is reason two or not. I'm not sure how exactly we'll do that. If I do happen to figure out how, I'll make another post.
I have a feeling that those who favor the tributes so much are pissed off because they think it doesn't take that much effort on the part of the admins/mods to initiate a re-vote, and they shouldn't have to organize a bunch of people to cause this to happen, as simple_faith said. Is it something like we can't totally know if having no tribute screen is what people want at this point? Since it probably doesn't take THAT much effort to initiate a re-vote, we should go ahead and do it just in case?
Honestly, though, if MOST people did feel strongly enough about the tribute screen, they would definitely boycott the patch, regardless of reason two. It's possible that the vast majority of people don't feel so strongly about it, so reason two applies. We really must find out if reason two is actually true or not.

Re: I believe it is once again time
Sorry for the double post, but in general I think I agree with P-51 in the idea that it has been long enough since the last vote. Even though there's nothing really prompting it except for a few people complaining, it seems to me that it is worthwhile to have a second vote because there was only one vote on this issue. We should have a second vote because now everyone knows exactly what it's like to have no tributing, so they can make an informed decision of which one they think is better now.
I think the majority thinks tributing should still be gone, but I think it's worth a shot.
Of course, this is just my opinion. This is clearly up to Omega and Ghost and whoever else if they want to do this, if they think it's worth it, if they think it's terribly inconvenient or not, etc.
So yeah, I think we should have a second vote just for the sake of having a second vote. This doesn't apply to a third vote, though.

Re: I believe it is once again time
It doesn't take much looking around here to realize that there is nothing democratic about this place. Just a bunch of people that are proud of themselves for being the moderators of defunct video game.Alchemek wrote:

I have said this many times and it is worth repeating. If we take an already small community and split it even further, it will result in a dead community within the next year.Alchemek wrote:

The other two reasons you stated may also apply to some people but an empty server is something that nobody wants.
Compare the current lobby size to what it was a 12-18 months ago.lightnessking wrote:

Re: I believe it is once again time
Just because some players are leaving it's no proof at all that they left because of the patch. I can think of thousands of better reasons to leave than crying about a patch and anyways this discussion is already old.
The only thing that's splitting this community is the endless discussion led by just a few members.
It takes about 2 seconds to path or unpatch your game and there are ways to have both, a patched and a unpatched EE installed so why are you still arguing?
And there were several votes which all ended, surprise surprise, with a majority for the patch..
Where is the point in revoting this matter every few month?
And even if another vote would end with a majority against the patch what then? Do you really think everyone would remove it immideatly? No. There would be chaos and that would be splitting the community!

Re: I believe it is once again time
the proplem is not all people can host and peoples are lazy.
i like playing with tributs more and i tryed sometimes host unpatched games it works people join
but its much harder get a full game... splitt a community with 30 know mid player is just shit-
so all play unpatched or no1!

Re: I believe it is once again time
Typical patch lover response that has been said over a thousand times in every thread, "Guys just unpatch, so simple! so easy guys!1" Try hosting a mod tl a couple times and see how many people join that, its the same way with the unpatching Plus omega use to have an auto update for the patch, wouldn't be hard to have an auto remove either.PeLlE wrote:Just because some players are leaving it's no proof at all that they left because of the patch.
