Yes! Who's interested in playing the real game with the latest official version (2.0)?
All we need to do is install the Direct Connect patch and then play like it's 2004! If you have any other tip about where it's possible to play the original game feel free to post it here.
The original timeless beauty of EE. Here we go!!

Yes, quit your nonsense and play in lobby. If you're lucky, maybe 2 or 3 people will follow your lead and unpatch their game to play retarded games with you.
BUT!!!
If YOU'RE smart, then you'd patch EE, grow some balls and play better games.

Someday you will also realize that the original is the best, until then you'll be a little lobby-bitch. Give me one reason why the patch is better than the original?

As bigron stated, no eco glitching.
Now you give me 1 valid reason to play without the patch? And don't say tributes, come with something original.

Play your stupid patch if you want to. Tributes are part of the game as much as prophets/priests, it's also an upgrade in University if I rememember correctly. 2.0 all the way!

I guess I'm against any unofficial patch/mod of any game whether its less or more harmful to the game. In the end the original game will always be best. It's sounds good that the mod is "anticheating improved" but people will always find a way to cheat. It's something we have to live with. It's not that common afterall.

You obviously haven't played the game prior to anti-cheat patches. Cheating was so rampant across the board that everyone was second guessing everyone else, and with damn good reason. One day you could be playing with someone you and others have the utmost respect for and the next day you could see their name pop up with evidence of them cheating. Everyone knew how to do it and even noobs would learn of it in a few days. I had noobs that played worse than the computer AI cheat against me so bad that I had to use every ounce of my skill to beat them (note: 4v1 on gigantic map).
I don't think I'd even consider going back to playing the game if there was no anti-cheat patching. It works well enough that there's a whole other online community on the other side of the world that has been using an anti-cheat patch long before this lobby existed. Ask BigRon. I played there and tested it out before we even considered the idea of using it here.
Regardless, as its been said before, adding and removing the patches are only clicks away. If there's a demand for it, then vanilla games shall be played. I honestly think it wouldn't be hard to rally together the people. Bitching about it on the forums isn't going to help though, it requires more effort than that.

Answer me this please.
Why would a patch creator waste his time on what you call "damaging the game" ?
The answer
(Don't look if you can't answer it yourself, that'll be cheating and i'd have to make a patch for it.): BECAUSE THERE IS DEMAND FOR IT AND IT'S NOT DAMAGING THE FULL GAME.

I remember playing this game online "back in the day". My flashbacks are: Elephant archers kicking ass (still do), Industrial with lot's of bombards, I can't rememeber that cheating was a big problem. We played and had big respect for the game and each other. Today is a whole different story. The originality is gone since the game has been hacked. But not all is bad, some bizarre new tactics like biological warfare where you plaguing your own soldiers and get them inside the opponents village lol. I don't remember that from the sierra days, but why not?
Anyway today we don't have much options if we want to play non-hacked ee. But I won't give up, I love this game too much.

How exactly is the "originality" gone? Sounds like a bullshit statement to me, unless you can define exactly what you mean and cite specific examples which support the statement.
P.S. Plaguing your own army is a very new tactic. It's even newer than massing a shit ton of bombards in industrial age.
P.S.S. My bad, I actually meant "old" instead of "new", since it's not like people had figured out you could plague your own troops and use that to infect enemy troops in the first few days of the game (they did).
