It's better to have all the hunters gather from 1 hippo at the time, instead of having them spread out on the two hippos.
So basically, as normal you lure both hippos to your capitol and kill them at the same time. After their both killed, you should use all the hunters on one hippo, let them gather all that food, then put them on the next hippo. This way you get slightly more food.

Tests done in Nano:
4hippo 1 cit on each (all 5 cit in use) Rebel Forces civ
Take1: 862 food
Take2: 866 food
Take3: 871 food

4hippo 5 cit on the same (all die same time) Rebel forces Civ
Take1: 902 food
Take2: 921 food
Take3: 917 food

2hippo 1cit on each (2citizen) Great Britain civ
Take1: 447 food
Take2: 448 food
Take3: 448 food

2hippo gathering from same (both die same time) great britain civ
Take1: 473 food
Take2: 469 food
Take3: 473 food

I've suspected this for a long time. Its because the food amount per animal decays faster than you gather. More cits per hippo means less loss to decay.

Of cource, but the question I was dealing with here was: Two hippos are dead next to your capitol. Is it better to use one cit on each, or two cits on one and let the other one be unattended until the two citizen are done with the first one?

This is not a huge discovery by any means, it's just something to think about.

"hunting for EE-Nerds" is right title lol, but if you think bout it its obvious. You loose food on dead animals, no matter you gather or not. So your goal is to minimize time of animals being dead. This is clearly by finishing 1 of fast( no more food loss for this ). Still never thought it through before lol

In liga (and practically any other set besides pre2nano) it's important that you lure your hippo's and kill them yourself fast. If you don't, you'll lose even more valuable apples. (yes apples is the food currency when gathering hippo's)

I'm also pretty sure you didn't quite understand what he said.

I can try explain it to you:
Dead animals decay. You want them to decay as little as possible and therefor you want to minimize the time the animal is laying there dead on the ground. If you focus on 1 hippo at the time, you're gonna have less decaying.

Just pointing out that losing food in sets like liga is very important to prevent. While gurke calls it hunting for nerds. Just that extra 40-50 food in liga can still help you.
