Empire Earth Virtual Machine

Hey there,
a friend of mine does not trust the Neo installer. So he created a virtual Machine to run the game. The problem is that the installer recognizes that it is a Virtual Machine.
Is there a way to install the game in a virtual machine or do you really have to install it on your main pc?

Please help me out

Made an account just to comment here that my only option to play this on my Macbook Air M1 (the only computer I own) is through Parallels... and it's not working

edit: During install it says something like "Virtual Machine detected !!!! Invalid CD Keys !!!", otherwise I am able to play offline. Just can't login/register for Multiplayer
