So I played aoe3 when it first came out in 2005 pretty hardcore and enjoyed it. Got decently high on the ladder by mostly laming the latest meta strats. I think I got elo like 2200 at one point.
I recently installed aoe2:de. I never played aoe2 and it’s probably the best rts I’ve ever played(I’ve played wc3, sc2, ee/eeaoc, empires, war hammer and total war). It’s similarities to EE are unreal. For the middle folks it’s literally archers or cav every game. The strategies are pretty neat.
I think if you’re good at ee the skill translation is almost direct. Hot keys are different but you can customize them.
Does anyone wanna play? I’ve only been playing it a few weeks.

its pretty similar to EE, although slower. its probably the best RTS game ive played. I feel its more balanced and complicated than EE, but similar enough to be enjoyable.
