Stop underestimating no-expansionism strategies, and stop pigeonholing them as "rush and win or die" strategies. Not understating how to play without expansionism isn't a good excuse.
@Taco, I used a civ/strat similar to that for a time on AoC. I was accused of cheating ~70% of the time I used it, because apparently it's just not possible to boom that well without using expansionism, because you have less TCs. Of course, anyone who's familiar playing with expansionism and making at least a MODEST attempt to make some kind of army knows you're not using all of your TCs 100% of the time to produce citizens... Really the only barrier a non-exp civ faces in cit production compared to an exp civ is the opportunity cost and food cost of the 5 citizens you have to populate into each settlement, which honestly isn't that big considering you've got 30 extra civilization points to play with and put awesome bonuses in.
