The basic strategy for Middle is to pick Assyrian Empire and go Cav Archer, for everything from pocket, to wing, to 1 vs 1. Another common strategy for wing in team games is Byzantine Rome sword rush, although this is not nearly as popular in Middle as it is in say, Bronze Age.
Finally, there needs to be a note that in 1 vs 1 Ancient Greece is a wicked forward Siege Factory Ram Rush Civilization. A lot of old players know about this, and a lot of newer players see it for the first time and get omgwtfpwned. This is not a common strategy.
