best utilities and texture packs

I'v been downloading from heaven games. I have the mod utilities packages EE unit and EE unit2. EE unit2 crashes on startup. EE unit allows me to alter the tech tree. I can't get it to apply changes to objects. Are there other newer utilities?

I have hex editors. I'm still learning how to alter the files by hand.

Are there high-res textures packs for EE?

Can you add any new units without crashing EE?

The majority of the community on this website is dedicated to the multiplayer aspect of the game. Very, very few people who visit these forums have experience modding the game. Your questions would be better asked on the EE Heaven forums where most of the people there solely do singleplayer, scenarios, and modding.

You can add new units in the EE and EE:AoC without the game cracher.
