The game is so unoriginal that it can ever be when unofficially patched/hacked. It's like painting your own **** over da vinci's original work. This patch is made because it's better than the previous patches. If you think you shouldn't edit things because that would rape the original, then I'd say you're a fucking moron being ignorant when it comes to improvements.

If the patch does any of the things you say, such as ruining the game or destroying its "originality", you should be able to cite specific reasoned examples.

Let's begin here: I don't see any reason for a patch in the first place. It doesn't matter if we disagree about what's good or bad about the patch. The fact that it exists and you're more or less forced to have it is my biggest concern. I appreciate and respect this game too much and these patches just makes me sad. So why do we even need a patch?
If it was a big need for it then maybe, but the game is so well made that we don't need it!

My intention with starting this thread was to see if there's any interests in playing the 2.0 version. Instead it has turned into patch-discussion. All I want to do is to play the game. The reason why I'm so patch critical is that 99% of all active EE-players have these installed. And as I just wrote; I don't see any reason for it!

Shouldn't there be a changelog somewhere that states all the modifications made in the patches? I'm looking in the EE Unlimited folder and cannot find them.

Patch was made to stop the glitching. Its a valid reason. Rules and laws are made everywhere in our daily life. Some are good, some are bad. You gotta deal with it, simple as that. In Empire Earths case its a good "law", it stops some Users abusing the game (e.g. Parallus Nexus, Black Cobra, Player Nic, Chicken) and keeps their skill level where it belongs to. It's no fun to know that someone is glitching in the game you are playing. Le me BigRon and oh so many other people here don't get you. Imo, you are just a scumbag trying to get attention because it got buttraped by opponents plagued army or you wouldn't mention it in your post earlier. Deal with it - patch stays. Over and out.
